Our Color & Finish Selection Process

Our process starts with small, generic samples to explore color direction. We don’t just “pick colors” — we focus on undertones and how they interact with your fixed elements like flooring, tile, or countertops.

Most people know they want a shade of white, blue, or green — but every color has an undertone. For example, a white trim might lean yellow or gray. A blue might carry hints of black or purple. These subtle differences matter, and we guide you through them.

We also factor in LRV (Light Reflective Value) — how much light a color reflects. In a space like a media room, it’s not enough to choose a dark color; we help you choose one with a properly low LRV.

Lighting and sheen also impact the final look. That’s why we provide large sample boards and walk you through different sheen options to help you visualize everything clearly.

Once you’ve narrowed it down, we create a final sprayed sample on your actual door using the exact product, sheen, and color — eliminating guesswork. With this approach, we move forward with total clarity and confidence.

For the best quality, its ideal to empty the cabinets but not required. Many take this opportunity to clean the inside shelving and get rid of things they don't use. We bring moving boxes so you have somewhere to put things. If for any reason you are unable to do this task, we can arrange for one of our team members to carefully empty the cabinets. During the base cabinet painting (usually 3-4 days) you will have access to the refrigerator, pantry, and sink for light use but won't be able to cook.
